Some ways to support Migraine Canada take real effort to plan and pull off. This one takes five minutes, then runs itself.
A little comes off your paycheque before you even notice it's gone. It adds up to real, steady support, the kind that doesn't need a special occasion. Migraine is still invisible at a lot of workplaces. An estimated 1 in 4 Canadian workers live with it, and most push through without saying anything. Choosing to give through your job is a quiet way to show up for them anyway.
Why choose Migraine Canada
- Over 5 million Canadians live with migraine. An estimated 1 in 4 Canadian workers live with migraine, most of them quietly.
- Your gift helps fund real education, advocacy, and support for people across the country.
- It's steady. Set it up once, and it keeps going without you having to think about it again.
What's a matching gift?
Some employers match what you give, sometimes dollar for dollar, sometimes more. It's one of the most overlooked ways to help. If your workplace offers it, your gift could be worth twice as much without you giving another cent.
Giving through United Way?
If your workplace runs a United Way campaign, you don't have to give to the general fund. Ask about Donor Choice or Donor Designation, most local United Ways let you name Migraine Canada directly. A small processing fee usually applies first depending on your local United Way, and the rest comes to us.
How to get started
- Ask your HR or payroll team if your workplace offers payroll giving, a United Way campaign, matching gifts, or a charity of choice program.
- If your workplace uses a platform like Benevity, search “Migraine Canada” there directly, we're already registered.
- Use the name and registration number below to choose us.
- Ask if your employer matches gifts or supports employee-led fundraisers. It's an easy way to double your impact.
A few other ways to give
Have a workplace program but just want to make a one-time gift instead of setting up payroll giving? Most platforms, including Benevity, support that too, usually by credit card or PayPal. Follow the same steps above and choose the one-time option when you get there.
No workplace program at all? That’s alright. You can still give directly at any time, or bring your own idea to life through Fundraise Your Way. Either way, it counts.
Information you'll need:

A note on tax receipts
If you give through payroll deduction, you won't get an individual receipt from us. Your employer includes the total on your T4, in Box 46, and you claim it using the CRA's donations and gifts line. If you give by credit card or PayPal through your workplace platform, or give to us directly, you'll get a receipt by email right away, whether it's a one-time gift or not.
FAQ
Do I need to give a lot to make a difference?
No. Small, steady gifts add up. That's the whole idea behind payroll giving.
What if my company doesn't offer this?
You can still give directly, or ask HR about starting a program. We're happy to help make the case.
How do matching gifts work?
Your employer agrees to match what you give, sometimes more. Check with HR, it's often just a form.
Does this work if my company runs a United Way campaign?
Yes. Ask about Donor Choice or Donor Designation and name Migraine Canada directly. A small processing fee usually comes off first depending on your local United Way, but the rest still reaches us.
Will my employer know I'm supporting a migraine charity?
Usually whoever processes payroll giving campaigns will see your designation, not your manager or coworkers. If you'd rather keep it private, donating to us directly instead of through payroll is a simple way to do that.
