Botox has been available for <a class="glossaryLink" aria-describedby="tt" data-cmtooltip="<div class=glossaryItemTitle>Chronic Migraine</div><div class=glossaryItemBody>&lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: 400;&quot;&gt;Chronic migraine is a distinct and relatively recently defined sub-type of Chronic Daily Headache. The International Headache Society defines chronic migraine as more than fifteen headache days per month over a three month period of which more than eight are migrainous, in the absence of medication overuse. Very few public drug plans provide access, and most of those that do require a laborious process before treatment can begin.

It is also important to remove medication discontinuation criteria to allow me to stay on medication when I start to see results versus, I get better and then loose access a treatment that is effective, safe and tolerable.

Without public financial support, many Canadians are not able to access these medications and will not experience their benefit. These medications improve quality of life and lessen disability for patients so that they can be less of a burden on the healthcare system and contribute to society.
