Disability Programs, Benefits, & Credits (Federal & Provincial)

There are a number of Federal and Provincial programs available in Canada. Although there are similarities, each are different including processes for applying and criteria. We have included a comprehensive summary of the programs available with links to more detailed information.  

The majority of programs will require the support of your healthcare provider and may involve a payment for his / her time to complete the forms. We recommend you do as much of the work as you can in completing forms in advance.

Pathway to Benefits is a free, national initiative led by Mood Disorders Society of Canada to help Canadians with disabilities and their families access the financial supports they are entitled to, but too often miss out on.

Through a combination of one-on-one support, online resources, and peer guidance, the program simplifies the complex process of applying for disability benefits, including the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB), the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) and other provincial and territorial disability supports.
