Canadian Headache Society

In 2010, a group of Canadian experts came together to form the Canadian Headache Society to design a strategy to structure migraine care in Canada.

The Canadian Headache Society is a group of health care professionals dedicated to promoting better care for patients living with headache disorders. By advancing headache training for residents and fellows, and providing expert guidance and education to all health care professionals, together we can help reduce the burden of illness for patients living with headache.

They have published guidelines to help physicians manage migraines based on published evidence. These guidelines are important documents to focus future interventions designed to improve access to care for migraineurs in Canada.

You can access the guidelines from the Canadian Headache Society website.

Mastermind

Physicians receive little training on migraine in medical school. The Canadian Headache Society (CHS) has developed an accredited online-learning platform on advancing migraine management in primary care. The program has been certified by the College of Family physicians of Canada. All physicians in Canada are required to complete a certain number of accredited learning each year!

The mastermind self-learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 8 Mainpro+ credits.

This program was supported in part by an unrestricted educational grant from Allergan (an Abbvie company), Eli Lilly Canada, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Canada and Teva Canada.
