MIGRAINE MODE

People living with migraine in Canada often struggle with inconsistent and fragmented care. Access to treatment and support varies widely depending on where a person lives, which provider they see, and what resources are available. This patchwork approach leaves many without the timely, effective care they need often facing long delays, inequities in treatment, and care that does not fully meet their needs.

To address these challenges, the Canadian Headache Society commissioned the Conference Board of Canada to develop a proposed national model of care for migraine. This model is designed to deliver person-centered, outcome-focused care across the country. By creating clear standards, reducing inequities, and integrating migraine care into the broader Canadian healthcare system, this approach ensures that every patient has access to the right care, at the right time, no matter their location.

Migraine Canada fully supports this proposed model of care and calls on health system leaders, policymakers, and funders to act on its recommendations. Establishing a coordinated model of migraine care is essential to reduce inequities, ease the burden on patients and families, and ensure that every Canadian living with migraine has timely access to the right care at the right time.
