0:05 child neurologist with a subspecialty in
0:08 headache medicine
0:09 hi i’m zach i’m nine years old and i
0:12 would like to tell you about how how i’m
0:15 dealing with migraines did you know that
0:17 1 in 10 children adolescents experience
0:20 migraine
0:21 migraine is a brain disorder and it’s
0:23 characterized by recurrent episodes of
0:26 severe headaches really really bad
0:28 headache it caused me to get sick
0:31 thousands and thousands of times but
0:34 also other neurological symptoms like
0:36 sensitivity to light sensitivity to
0:38 sound even nausea and vomiting
0:41 green if it’s like good and just
0:44 starting um yellow which is like kind of
0:47 hurts and that means that i’m really
0:49 sick and i’m gonna throw up i’ve been
0:51 dealing with migraines for four years
0:53 and having these migraines are very hard
0:56 on me i’ve been missing a lot of school
0:58 and even camp
1:00 there’s lots that we can do to help
1:01 children adolescence with migraine
1:04 usually we focus on using strategies to
1:07 stop the attacks when they start
1:09 also preventative strategies which might
1:11 involve medication devices injections my
1:15 parents have me on medication and now
1:19 my headaches aren’t as bad as they used
1:21 to be we advise to look at lifestyle
1:24 habits like sleep getting enough sleep
1:26 getting regular sleep regular meals and
1:29 regular exercise regimen um yes we’re on
1:32 a you know medication management program
1:34 um but getting those calls in the middle
1:36 of the school day or at camp or wherever
1:38 we are where he’s like violently ill and
1:40 this is the reality of having a child
1:42 with clinical migraine so anybody else
1:44 out there if you have a child with
1:46 clinical migraine i feel for you if you
1:48 or your child are experiencing migraine
1:50 know that there is help available and
1:52 there’s lots we can do i’m so glad that
1:53 we have
